Wolverhampton Wanderers returned to winning ways in their last game and will be hoping to go one better when they host Chelsea in the next game. The two sides are separated by 13 points in the league standings, Wolves on 24 points, in eighth place and third placed Chelsea have 37 points. Ahead of this game, Wolves haven’t managed more than a goal in their last five matches, and each one of them has produced under 2.5 goals. They’ve failed to score in four of the five matches and the one goal in the 1-0 win away to Brighton is their only goal in the five games. They are good defensively; after the top three in the league standings, they are the fourth best defensive side in the league. However, they don’t have matching ratings in attack, having scored just 13 goals this season in the league.
In a matter of two weeks, Chelsea have dropped from the top of the league table to third. There isn’t immediate danger that they will drop further, but their run of form hasn’t been great. Seven points dropped from the last five matches is a sign of confidence levels going down, and Wolves will definitely notice this. None of Chelsea’s last five matches has produced a clean sheet and they have scored in all, which means both sides have scored. The Blues have conceded two or more goals in two of their last three matches but have scored two or more in three of the last five. Two of their last five matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
Wolves are well organized defensively and should be able to handle this especially now that Chelsea are going through hard times. Chelsea are struggling, and though they are scoring regularly something seems missing. They aren't as confident as before and as such, we will go for under 2.5 goals here.
