African giants Tunisia and Egypt will renew their rivalry as they head out to face off in the Arab Cup semi finals on Wednesday. This will be a big clash considering the North African nations are among the top ranked in Africa and are coming from good runs in this competition. Tunisia will feel they have an edge here, having beaten Egypt five times in seven matches; the last of these meetings was three years ago though. It ended 3-2 and Naim Sliti, who scored a brace then is in the current Tunisia squad. Going to this game, three of Tunisia’s last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals while they have just one clean sheet in the run. They’ve scored in four of their last five matches, the only one they failed to was against Syria as they lost 2-0 at this competition.
Egypt are coming from a 3-1 win over Jordan. It wasn’t a walk in the park; they had to come from down after conceding in the 12th minute and the game went all the way to extra time, that’s when they managed to break Jordan. Fatigue will definitely be an issue for them, considering their opponents won their game well within 90 minutes. Egypt however go to this game unbeaten in their last five matches but will want to do better after failing to keep a clean sheet in the last two matches. In fact, they’ve trailed in those two matches, and this one will not be very kind to them should they fall behind. Three times in their last five matches, Egypt have conceded and those matches have ended in over 2.5 goals. They have scored two or more goals in three of the last five matches too.
Some great attacking talent will be on show when these two giants face off. Both have been impressive in this competition so far and a number of their matches have seen at least three goals. Tunisia have one clean sheet in the competition while Egypt have two, and chances are that neither side will add to those. Over 2.5 goals looks good here.
