Now the 34-year-old takes on the highly promising Jule Niemeier. The world number 97 is playing the main draw of a Grand Slam for only the second time in her career. The other appearance was at the French Open this month, losing in round one. 2021 saw her trying to qualify for Wimbledon  but losing in the third round. Now she doesn't have to qualify and got a first main draw win at Wimbledon when beating Wang Xiyu. That set up a round two match against second seeded Anett Kontaveit. The German won that with ease, losing just four games. Wins have followed against Lesia Tsurenko (needing a final set) and an impressive straight sets win on Centre Court against Heather Watson. Back her to win this and get into the semi-finals.
