Tuesday will see a great match in La Liga as title hopefuls Sevilla host Barcelona in La Liga for a match which was originally scheduled to be played on matchday four. Sevilla are flying high in the league and currently find themselves second, trailing Real Madrid by six points. They are coming off a big 2-1 victory against Atletico in their last match, which saw them net an 88th minute winner thanks to Lucas Ocampos. FC Barcelona travel to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium in seventh place as they look to build consistency under manager Xavi. The visitors are coming off a late winner of their own, scoring in the 85th minute to defeat Elche 3-2 after having squandered a two goal advantage. Barcelona now have three wins, two draws and two defeats with the Blaugrana legend as manager of the club. They are three points behind fourth place Rayo Vallecano and the Champions League positions.
Sevilla have been on an impressive run as of late, winning three straight in La Liga since losing 2-1 away to Madrid at the end of November. However, they were incredibly fortunate to have recorded victories in those matches as they were comprehensively outplayed by Villareal and Athletic Club - with the two sides combining for a total of six clear cut chances as opposed to Sevilla’s one. Atletico as well, did enough where they should have at least earned a point in their most recent match. Barcelona have shown flashes under Xavi’s system and there have been some encouraging performances but the Catalans need to straighten out their defensive issues as they have been quite leaky at the back.
Sevilla’s recent results have been more impressive than their actual performances, while Barcelona have been playing well enough where they should be growing in confidence. Back Barcelona draw no bet in this one as we expect Xavi’s young side to come out fired up.
