If ever there was a match worthy of a final, it's this one. For the second successive year, Novak Djokovic meets Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros before the final takes place. Last year saw Djokovic win in the last four on his way to winning the title. This time it's the last eight due to Nadal only being seeded fifth for this tournament. Whoever wins this is likely to face either Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. Djokovic missed the early part of the 2022 season due to his off-court problems. He's been making steady progress since making his return to the circuit. He lost in the Belgrade final to Andrey Rublev but won the Rome Masters without dropping a set. Djokovic hasn't lost one at Roland Garros either and just one set has seen an opponent get more than three games on the scoreboard.
Rafa Nadal saw his year get off to a flying start with three tournament wins in a row. He lost in the Indian Wells final but suffered a rib injury and didn't return until the clay court season was underway. He hasn't been in top form since his return and didn't make the semi-final in either Madrid or Rome. This tournament is one he has dominated in the past but he had a real battle on his hands to get past Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last 16 on Sunday, winning in five sets. He has won 19 of his 26 matches against Djokovic on this surface but trails 30-28 overall. This could well be a classic and the tip is for a Djokovic win as he looks in the better form at present.
