Iga Swiatek bids to make it three tournament wins in a row. The Pole takes on unseeded Naomi Osaka in the Miami final and is yet to drop a set in this tournament. Swiatek is looking to follow up her wins in Doha and Indian Wells. When the new ranking list comes out, Swiatek will be the world number one following the retirement of Ashleigh Barty. When it comes to ranking points earned in 2022, the 20-year-old has more than double the number of points anyone else on the WTA tour has earned. Swiatek has now won 16 consecutive matches after her semi-final win over Jessica Pegula. Not just that, the Pole has only dropped 22 games in five matches in Miami. Her last eight matches have all been won in straight sets. That's a big improvement as Swiatek did have a recent habit of dropping the first set in matches but that seems to be out of her system now.
Naomi Osaka is making huge strides in climbing back up the rankings. After time off last year and then failing to retain her Australian Open title, the Japanese player was down to 85th. Her run to her first final since winning the 2020 Australian Open has her back in the top 40. Wins in Miami have come against Astra Sharma, Angelique Kerber, Karolina Muchova (via a walkover), Allison Riske Danielle Collins and Belinda Bencic (after losing the first set). Osaka may have to battle her emotions as well as a red-hot Swiatek. Go for the Pole to win this and have a side bet on her doing so in straight sets.
