Liverpool host Leicester City at Anfield in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup. The Reds went past Norwich City and Preston North End in the previous rounds to make their way to the final eight teams in the Cup while Leicester City beat Millwall and Brighton & Hove Albion in the previous rounds to set up the quarter-final clash with Liverpool. The Reds drew 2-2 with Tottenham in the Premier League despite a string of unavailable names in the squad due to injuries. Jurgen Klopp’s men are unbeaten in their last nine matches and also are on a six-game winning streak at home across all competitions. Liverpool were knocked out of the fourth round in the previous edition of the EFL Cup by Arsenal on penalties and will be looking to make amends in the current season.
Leicester City have been rather inconsistent with their results so far in the current season. They have won only once in their last four matches and come into the game with two postponed Premier League games. However, it is to be noted that they beat Newcastle United 4-0 in their last fixture. Leicester City have only beaten Liverpool once in the last eight meetings between the two sides and also have not won once in their last four away matches.
Liverpool are on a better run of form and are expected to go past Leicester in the quarter-final in a key Cup game. The Reds have seldom lost matches and it is likely that the same continues. We are backing Liverpool to lead at both half time and full time.
