Iga Swiatek bids to win the French Open title for the second time in three years. The world number one faces the 18th seeded Coco Gauff who is in her first Grand Slam final. Swiatek just keeps on winning and victory at Roland Garros on Saturday will see her make it six titles in a row this year. Such is her dominance, success in the Roland Garros final will take her ranking points to nearly double those of the world number two. Swiatek did drop a set in the last 16 but has been back in dominant form since then, losing ten games in six sets. She was highly impressive when only losing three games to the in-form Daria Kasatkina in the semi-finals. There have been two previous meetings between these players. Both were won in the last 13 months by Swiatek without dropping a set and one was on clay.
Coco Gauff was ranked 23rd at the start of this tournament. Her run to this Roland Garros final has her up to a career high 13th. If Gauff can manage to beat Swiatek for the first time, the 18-year-old will be up to eighth in the world. That doesn't look like happening though. Gauff didn't get past the last 16 of any of her previous clay court tournaments this year before heading to Paris. She's had some good wins on her way to this final but only had to beat one seed and that was the 31st seeded Elise Mertens. The quarter and semi-finals saw her defeat unseeded Sloane Stephens and then Martina Trevisan. This is miles tougher, go for Swiatek to get the win here and to do so in straight sets.
