In form Blackburn travel to the MKM Stadium to take on Hull City for matchday 24 of the Football League Championship. The visitors have been red hot, shooting up the table after five straight wins with their most recent a 4-0 dismantling of Birmingham. Blackburn currently sit third, a point behind Bournemouth and two points behind leaders Fulham, and are in position to battle for an automatic promotion spot. Hull City have suffered from some inconsistency this season. After an awful run of five straight losses the Tigers responded strongly by winning four straight. Their recent form has seen a bit of a dip as they have now gone three matches without a win, with their most recent match a 2-1 loss away to Nottingham Forest. Hull City sit in 19th place, just four points above 22nd place Peterborough, and will be hoping for points here to avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap.
Blackburn’s surge in recent weeks has a large part to do with manager Tony Mowbray’s tactical switch to a five at the back system. Since the change, Rovers have won five consecutive matches and haven’t conceded a goal - outscoring their opponents 12-0. Despite this stellar defensive form, three of those matches were at home and Blackburn had previously only kept one away clean sheet all season. Hull City should fancy their chances to get on the scoresheet, with the hosts scoring in seven straight matches and four of their last five at home. This is a tricky match to pick a winner in so we’re going to play the goals market, with both teams to score the best way to approach this one. Blackburn have been trending towards high scoring matches this season, with 14 of their 24 matches in all competitions going over the 2.5 goals mark. With the visitor’s excellent form and scoring in seven straight, they should have no problem finding the back of the net against a Hull City side that has only kept six clean sheets through their 24 matches.
