Hubert Hurkacz v Ilya Ivashka Betting Tips [2 September 2022]

Eighth seeded Hubert Hurkacz attempts to reach the US Open third round for the first time in his career. He takes on unseeded Ilya Ivashka with the winner up against either 26th seed Lorenzo Musetti or qualifer Gys Brouwer in the next round. Hurkacz is world ranked 10th and has won one title this year. That was the Halle grass court tournament where he beat Nick Kyrgios, Felix Auger-Aliassiime and in the final, Daniil Medvedev. He's a player who when top form is hit, he's hard to beat. Hurkacz also got to the final of the recent Montreal Masters so is in good form leading into this final Grand Slam of the season. His best result in a Grand Slam this year was making it to the fourth round at Roland Garros. The first round here saw him beat Oscar Otte in straight sets.

Iyla Ivashka is the world number 73 and had a four set win over wild card Sam Querrey in the first round, losing the third set on a tie-break. He reached the third round here last year and his best Grand Slam performance is getting to the fourth round at Wimbleon in 2021. Before this tournament he'd only played one Grand Slam this year, being knocked out in the second round at Roland Garros. He was a career high 40th in June of this year but has slid down the rankings due to losing those points from that good run at Wimbledon last year. Ivashka got to the last four in Atlanta in late July but arrived in New York having lost four of his last six matches. Four of six previous matches between the pair have been won by Hurkacz. The most recent match was three years ago and won by Ivashka. Hurkacz has improved massively since then and can get the win here to make the third round.
