Both of these sides are struggling at prseent and could do with some Christmas cheer. Atletico Madrid are fifth in the table and travel to Granada who are 15th, three places above the relegation zone. Atletico's La Liga title defence looks to be all but over. They lost 2-1 at Sevilla at the weekend, conceding an 88th minute goal. That was their third successive league loss and they are now 14 points behind leaders Real Madrid with a game in hand. Atletico have only won one of their last six away games in La Liga, a 4-1 win at Cadiz. It's been a tough fixture list though and this trip to Granada is a bit easier.
Granada are only four points above the bottom three in La Liga. They had a win at the weekend beating Mallorca (recent winners at Atletico) 4-1 at home. The scoreline probably flattered them though as it was 2-1 going into the 91st minute. Jorge Molina then scored to complete a hat-trick. Granada were bouncing back from a surprise 1-0 loss at Mancha Real in the Copa del Rey. They have picked up well in La Liga and are unbeaten in their last four league matches. Only Real Madrid have beaten them in their last five home league fixtures but before that had gone six without a win. Both teams have scored in all but one of their last eight La Liga games played on home soil. A bet on that statistic coming up in this game is the recommended wager.
