Three of the top four seeds have made it to the semi-finals of the US Open men's singles tournament. Daniil Medvedev is in his third straight US Open semi-final and takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime who is in the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time. He's also the youngest of the semi-finalists at the age of 21. Medvedev has won three titles and been the main player of the Russian team that won the ATP Cup. He's yet to win a Grand Slam title but has been in good form with a recent triumph in the Cincinntati Masters. The Russian has played in two Grand Slam finals including the 2019 US Open final. Medvedev has beaten Richard Gasquet, Dominik Koepfer, Pablo Andujar, 24th seeded Daniel Evans and Botic van de Zandschlup. Not the hardest route to the US Open semi-final and only one set dropped. His one previous match against Auger-Aliassine produced a three set win for the Russian in 2018.
Auger-Aliassime was a teenager at the time of that match and ranked outside the top 100. The Canadian has zoomed up the rankings since then and in the live list is 11th. He made it to the last eight at Wimbledon this year but this is his first semi-final. As a youngster though he did win the singles and doubles in the boy's tournaments at the US Open. The Canadian has reached two finals this year but without success. A win at the US Open would be his first ATP Tour triumph. To reach the semi-final, Auger-Aliassime has beaten Evgeny Donosky, Bernabe Zapata Miralles, Roberto Bautista Agut, Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcarez who retired in the second set. A bet on over 36.5 games in this match is the one to make here.
