13th placed Brighton and Hove Albion host Brentford who are a place above them. Brighton are only behind their opponents on goal difference but could do with a win. They made a bright start to the season with four wins and one defeat. It's all been a bit downhill since then because the Seagulls won that fourth game in September and haven't had another one since. It's 11 league games without a win but eight of them have been drawn. They had a chance earlier in the season to top the Premier League table but are now 24 points off the top. Of more concern is the fact they are only nine points above the relegation zone and have played a game more. If Brighton do anything in the January transfer window (it's nearly here Newcastle fans), it's sign a decent striker to help out Neal Maupay. Only 14 league goals have been scored by Albion, less than a goal a game. The last six games have seen them fail to score more than once. Only 17 league goals have been conceded, otherwise they'd be in more trouble. Of 16 league games, 12 have had under 2.5 goals scored in them, including the last six and four of the last five at home.
Brentford have 20 points and that's probably over halfway to the number they need to survive. The Bees also made a strong start to the season with only one loss in their first seven fixtures. That was a home loss to Brighton, thanks to a last gasp goal. That good start was followed by a run of four straight losses but form has picked up again. They have only one loss in their last five league matches, a 2-0 loss at Tottenham. Four points have been earned from their last two games, including a come-from-behind 2-1 home win over Watford. Midweek saw them lose at home to Chelsea in the EFL Cup. Away league form has eeen only two points from the last four in the Premier League. Only twice have they failed to get on the scoresheet in away Premier League games this season. Up against a tough Brighton defence that might change. Go for under 2.5 goals with a side bet on a draw.
