Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Tips [18 May 2019]
The match
Can Bayern Munich (first, 75 points) win their first-ever Bundesliga title in front of home fans at the Allianz Arena? The German giants have won 29 German Championships (28 of them Bundesliga titles) and are seeking their tenth since moving to this stadium in 2005. They have never been confirmed Champions while playing in front of their fans, something which they can do when they host Eintracht Frankfurt (sixth, 54 points), who are seeking a Champions League qualification spot themselves. It will be an interesting match for manager Niko Kovac, who masterminded Frankfurt’s DFB Cup success against Bayern last May. However, he has a happy record against his former side, winning 5-0 in the Supercup and then defeating them 3-0 in the reverse fixture. With a two-point lead over Borussia Dortmund, Bayern can confirm their seventh successive title even with a draw. The stakes are high for the Europa League beaten semi-finalists Frankfurt as well. They need to better the results of Borussia Monchengladbach (against Dortmund) and Bayern Leverkusen (against Hertha Berlin) to have any chance of a top-four finish. On the other hand, should they lose, they also risk getting out of the European slots altogether, with Wolfsburg lurking just behind by two points. With their form having nosedived recently with no wins in six consecutive competitive games (D3, L3), Frankfurt’s task looks a difficult terrain to climb.
Key Statistics
- Bayern have failed to win the Bundesliga title only once before, when they went into the final day in first place.
- Bayern haven’t lost a Bundesliga match to Frankfurt at home since November 2000.
- Frankfurt are winless in their last 16 Bundesliga meetings against Bayern since beating them in March 2010.
The bet of our experts
It is not an exaggeration to say that the rest of Germany is praying for an Eintracht Frankfurt win. Bayern Munich have a chance to annexe their seventh consecutive Bundesliga title, however, and are in prime position. Not only do Frankfurt have a very poor Bundesliga record against their hosts, they are also in the middle of a poor run of games.
