It's five years since Andy Murray made it to the fourth round of a Grand Slam event. He has a tough job on his hands in the US Open third round as he faces 13th seed Matteo Berrettini. Murray has beaten the 24th seeded Francisco Cerundolo in the first round of this tournament and then had to come from behind to beat wild card Emilio Nava. He's in the third round of this tournament for the first time since 2016 and it's now 10 years since he became US Open champion. Murray is just outside the top 40 now in the live rankings and will aim to be seeded in the next Grand Slam. He's only three matches in a tournament on three occasions this year and lost his last two matches to Berrettini.
Those two losses both came on grass and included the Stuttgart final this year. That's one of two tournaments Berrettini has won in 2022, the other also being on grass at Queen's Club in London. The Italian has had a stop-go year with injury and illness affecting him. He's down to 13th in the world rankings but we know he's better than that and spent most of last year in the top ten. Since missing Wimbledon due to having COVID-19, Berrettini has reached the final of the clay court event held in Gstaad. The last couple of hard court events haven't gone well but this week has seen him beat Nicolas Jarry and Hugo Grenier, the latter taking four sets. Berrettini can be backed to get the win here, have a side bet on a tie-break.
