Alexander Zverev v Carlos Alcaraz Betting Tips [31 May 2022]

Not since the second week of April has Carlos Alcaraz been beaten. The sixth seed takes on Alexander Zverev (the third seed) for a place in the Roland Garros semi-final. The winner of this match faces a collossal match in the last four against either Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz is in his first quarter final at Roland Garros and only the second of his career in Grand Slams. He comes into this match having won 20 of his last 21 matches and is unbeaten in the last nine. Four tournaments have already been won this year and he's second on the list for points earned this season. If he makes the semi-final and Nadal doesn't, then he'll be top in the APT Race. He had a tough match in the second round here and had to go to five sets to defeat Albert Ramos Vinolas. He's had three previous meetings with Zverev with two losses on other surfaces last year. 2022 saw him beat Zverev in the Madrid final on clay, though the German says he was tired after a late match in the semi-finals.

Zverev is yet to win a tournament in 2022 and still to be victorious in a Grand Slam. He did win the Olympic title last year but yearns to finally get a Grand Slam win. This is his third quarter final at Roland Garros and only once has he got to the last four. Few have been as consistent as Zverev on the clay court tour this season. He had that loss to Alcaraz in the Madrid final but also reached the last four in Monte Carlo and Rome. His run to this quarter final at Roland Garros has seen him have one major battle with Sebastian Baez in the second round. He had to come from two sets down to get into round three. His other matches have all been won in straight sets but not without cause for concern. The last two rounds against Nakashima and Miralles have had three tie-breaks and a 7-5 set. Go for Alcaraz to win this and have a side bet on a tie-break being played.
