World number three Alexander Zverev faces unseeded Adrian Mannarino in the Sud de France Open last eight. Zverev is the top seed for this tournament and the winner of this match faces either Mikail Ymer or Richard Gasquet (both unseeded) in the semi-finals. The German is playing his third tournament of the year. In the ATP Cup, he won two of his three matches, losing the other to Felix Auger-Aliassime. In the Australian Open, Zverev had three straight sets win before losing to another Canadian, Denis Shapovalov. He is bidding to win this title for the second time, his previous success being in 2017. This week has seen him defeat Mackenzie McDonald in straight sets.
Mannarino has had one previous match against Zverev and lost that in straight sets three years ago. He lost in the first match of his first two tournaments of the year. The 33-year-old did better in the Australian Open though, reaching the last 16. He recorded wins over seeded players Hubert Hurkacz and Aslan Karatsev before being beaten by eventual champion Rafa Nadal in straight sets. The world number 58 has won both of his matches this week in straight sets. Round one saw him beat Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina and then he defeated the defending champion. The Frenchman beat eighth seeded David Goffin continuing the poor run the Belgian is having. This is a tougher task, bet on Zverev to win in straight sets.
