Roberto Bautista is only two wins away from a second successive Sud de France Open final. He's seeded second this year and takes on the sixth seeded Alexander Bublik in the quarter finals. The winner will be up against either Filip Krajinovic or Dazir Dzhumur in the last four. World number 19 Agut has been in good form this year. He was part of the Spanish team that lost in the final of the ATP Cup to Canada. He won his first four matches before being beaten by Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final tie. He had wins over Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud, both currently in the top ten. He reached the last 32 of the Australian Open and led Taylor Fitz two sets to one but lost in the fifth. Agut lost to David Goffin (already out this year) in the 2021 Sud de France Open final. His only match so far this year was a win over Gilles Simon. He won the first set and led the second 3-2 when his opponent retired.
Alexander Bublik is the world number 35 but up to a career-equalling best of 34th in the live rankings. A win over Agut will see him go up to 33rd. 2022 hasn't gone too well though. He lost to Aleksander Vukic in Adelaide, his opponent being ranked 160th at the time. In the Australian Open, he was beaten by Gael Monfils in round two and only won five games. It's been a bit of a struggle this week. He beat Tallon Grieksppor but both sets went to a tie-break. Then, he had to go to three sets to get the win over Pierre-Hugues Herbert. Two previous meetings with Agut have been shared. Bublik's win was six years ago but Agut had a straight sets win last year. Go for Agut to win this.
